I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a bow that is collapsible so that it would fit into a backpack and reassemble easily. I don't have a car and just ride my bike everywhere. It would be convenient if I could fit a bow into my backpack and reassemble it in the park.

Re: Collapsible/Travel Bow
Tue, May 23, 2006 - 1:50 PMlike a take-down bow where you stick the limbs into the riser?
There are quite a few competitive target archery recurve bows that are like that.
Most I've seen have a machined aluminum or magnesium riser but I do remember seeing one that was all wood.

Tue, May 23, 2006 - 8:47 PMoh geez lol there are so many of them! If you just do a google search on "takedown bows" I'm sure a lot will pop up. Now do you want an all wood one? metal? takedown longbow? takedown recurve?
Hoyt, Fred Bear, PSE, Martin, etc all have takedown models. =D

I have a Hoyt white colored take-down bow. It came in a zippered foam padded case. You could probably create your own padding for carrying one in a backpack. (Perhaps carefully roll it up in a towel? Then tie a string around it? )
(I was on my Jr. College's intercollegiate team, and used it in competition. But It also works just fine for basic fun target shooting. ;) ) -
